Reflecting on Impact: MyInLaw's Year of Community Building and Opportunity Creation

Over the past year, MyInLaw has taken meaningful steps toward building a stronger, more connected, and empowered East African community in Ontario. With the support of the Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC), we have transformed vision into action—laying the foundation for long-term, sustainable impact.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to capacity building and community-driven solutions. This year, we established our operational hub, strengthened our internal systems, and expanded our team to better serve the growing needs of our community. Through strategic partnerships and digital tools, we have improved how we deliver programs, engage participants, and manage our work effectively.

Strengthening Community Connections

Our programs have directly reached over 4,500 community members through 7+ workshops, information sessions, and outreach events. From community development training to workforce pathways such as the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) stream through Thrivers, participants have gained access to opportunities that support both personal and professional growth. These efforts align closely with broader youth development initiatives that emphasize leadership, civic engagement, and skill-building for long-term success.

Creating Opportunities for Growth

We have also prioritized youth engagement and volunteerism, working alongside partners like the Career Foundation to onboard and train volunteers who now play an active role in delivering our programs. These collaborations reflect a shared commitment to building an inclusive Canada by creating meaningful opportunities for youth to contribute and lead.

Our commitment to opportunity creation extends beyond traditional means. By embracing digital platforms and innovative technologies, we've made resources more accessible, ensuring that everyone has the chance to thrive.

Beyond programming, MyInLaw has focused on creating pathways to economic and social empowerment. Through outreach, settlement support, and workforce initiatives, we are currently supporting over 120 active clients, helping individuals navigate employment, education, and integration challenges.

Looking ahead, SafariniFest stands as a key milestone—our flagship cultural and economic initiative designed to celebrate identity, amplify voices, and bring the community together at scale. It represents not only a celebration of culture but also a strategic step toward long-term sustainability and visibility.

Impactful Collaborations

Collaboration has been key to our success. This year, we've worked with various organizations and community leaders to amplify our impact. These partnerships have allowed us to leverage different strengths and resources, ensuring that our initiatives reach a wider audience.

Through these collaborations, MyInLaw has been able to implement projects that address specific community needs, from local development to social entrepreneurship. Together, we've created a ripple effect that continues to benefit communities long after the projects are completed.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, MyInLaw is committed to building on this year's successes. We envision a future where community building and opportunity creation continue to be at the forefront of our mission. By staying true to our values and embracing new challenges, we aim to make an even more significant impact in the years to come.

We invite you to join us on this journey, as we continue to explore innovative ways to connect, empower, and create opportunities for all. Together, we can build a brighter future.
